Summary of factor XI deficiency, also known as Hemophilia C or Christmas Disease.
During pregnancy, management of factor XI deficiency is determined by assessing the prior bleeding history, factor XI activity level, and whether neuraxial anesthesia is considered. Options for treatment include factor XI and/or tranexamic acid.
When in presence of a factor XI inhibitor, treatment can be done by administering a bypassing agent such as a low-dose recombinant activated factor VII or rFVIIa (15 to 30 mcg/kg).
